Interview with Holly for double page spread

Hey Holly, this is your first magazine interview, how are you feeling?

Hey Emily, I’m good and excited for people to hear my music and for them to see the type of music I’m trying to produce.

That’s great! What’s it been like working with Simon Cowells, Syco record label?

It’s been amazing! I’ve been allowed to do so much, experiment with new things and find ways that work for me. Simon has always been there at the other end of the phone if I’ve needed him and we’ve been able to create some good music that hopefully everyone reading will enjoy!

Tell us about the type of music you’ve created then and who it’s aimed towards?

My music is similar to the likes of Taylor Swift in the way that some songs are very upbeat and dance tracks however others are slower and the words are more meaningful. My personal favourite song is Bright Stars as this will help a lot of teenagers to overcome their struggles and hopefully they’ll be able to get away from reality while listening to my music.

When’s your next single out?

It releases on 4th March 2016. It’s called Small Life.

What have you been doing for the past 5 years?

I was at Sixth Form however; I dropped out half way through the first year so that I could concentrate on my music. In 2015 I was contacted by Syco to go to speak to some of the producers and that’s where they signed me and I’ve been making music ever since.

Who has been your idol growing up?

I love BeyoncĂ© and her music. She’s always been an inspirational figure to me since she was in Destiny’s Child in 1997. Her solo career started in 2002 and I’ve seen her in concert 4 times.

What are your aspirations for the next year?

I’d like get my album out, One Chance, by the end of the year and then I’d love to go on tour around the UK and eventually the world! I'm going to be performing at V Festival later on this year. Its going to be my first time performing live to such a big audience but I cant wait to get on the stage.

How have fans received you and your music?
I'm so thankful for how my fans have treated me with my first single, reaching number 1 in the UK in a few days! They're amazing and I cant wait to tour soon and meet some of them.

Who would you like to collaborate with?

I’ve always aspired to be as successful as Rihanna so producing music with her would be amazing. In this album, I’ve collaborated upcoming artist James Bay and he’s been such a success over the past year. He was great to work with because he was so calm yet such a good artist.

We know you write your own music, does it all come naturally to you?

Mostly yes, I can write a song in about 30 minutes sometimes! However, it normally takes me a couple of days to perfect a song. I get most of my inspiration from other artists and my past life experiences so I find it quite easy to make music.

What do you think of Zayn Malik’s new music?

I think it’s different and I like it. I think he’s come in to his own and he’s doing things that he wants to do now rather than producing music as part of a group.

Will you be going to the Brit awards this year?

Yes! It’s on later this week and I’ll be wearing a Topshop red dress that I bought yesterday. I’m looking forward to seeing Adele, Little Mix and others. One day I’d love to win a Brit award though it’d be amazing.

Thank you so much Holly!

No problem.
